Hairs are considered as integral part of your beauty and appearance and by far most noticed and much cared component of the body. Both quantity & quality of hairs are matter of concern for every individual as they directly affect our appearance and in some cases level of confidence also.
Hair is produced in the hair follicle present in the skin. Hair grows and stays in the hair follicle for many years. After that it falls and is replaced by a new hair. The average adult head has about 100,000 to 150,000 hairs and loses up to 100 of them a day which is quite normal and not a cause for alarm.
New hair normally replaces the lost hair, but this doesn’t always happen. Hair loss can develop gradually over years or happen abruptly and it can be permanent or temporary. Hair fall (alopecia) is a common problem that affects most people at some time in their lives.
There can be many types of alopecia like- male-pattern hair loss, female-pattern hair loss, alopecia areata, and a thinning of hair known as telogen effluvium.
In Ayurveda, hair fall is a direct by-product of the quality of your bone tissue. If there is weakness in the bone tissue, hair loss is a natural result.
