Yourself or any near & dear of you are suffering from PCOS/PCOD for a long time? & Looking for a perfect treatment Then you have reached at Right Place

Did you know – one in ten women in the world are diagnosed with PCOD? It is an endocrinal disorder that affects young women during the reproductive years. The condition is also known for raising the risk of other ailments like infertility, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Although there is no cure for PCOD currently, Ayurveda holds the power to ease out its symptoms. But before we get to that, let’s understand this condition in detail.

Ayurveda attributes the disruption in healthy ovulation to Kapha and VataDosha imbalances. Akasha Mahabhuta, or Space, is represented in the female body by the hollow space of the reproductive cavity.

During the ovarian cycle, Vata is responsible for follicular movement, the rupture of the ovarian wall releasing the matured ovum; and the movement of fimbriae, or the finger-like projections that guide the ovum through the fallopian tubes and into the uterus. Kapha provides nourishment for the uterus, aids follicular growth, and the development of (a fertilised) egg into a foetus. According to Ayurveda, what we understand as hormones, represent the ‘fire’ elements of human tissue, and therefore, PittaDosha, which stands for transformation; in the way that Vata stands for mobility, and Kapha for consolidation and ‘security.’

The ‘cold and sticky’ qualities of an imbalanced Kapha affect digestive fire, or agni, which in turn affects the metabolic rates of the tissues, or dhatus. The dhatus affected in PCOD are rasa dhatu (lymph and plasma), medha dhatu (adipose tissue) and artava dhatu (the female reproductive system).

Symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD)

Some well-known symptoms of PCOD include:

  •  Sudden weight gain and difficulty losing weight
  • Acne
  • Excess hair on the face and body. Women start getting deeper, thicker facial hair and more hair on the belly, back, and chest.
  • Pelvic Pain
  • Irregular Periods, the most commonly occuring symptom that varies from woman to woman. Some have no periods at all while others face excessive bleeding.
  • Fertility issues or trouble getting pregnant
  • Anxiety or Depression

Watch out for these symptoms. If you’ve noticed any of these, it’s best to get it checked by a doctor.

Dealing with the PCOD Problem Naturally

Here are some lifestyle alterations for PCOD that you can make:
Switch to meditation and indulge in some deep-breathing exercises or pursue a hobby that you’re truly passionate about.
Apart from food habits, Ayurveda also suggests that one invests time in practicing yoga and meditation.
Some tips include exercising or walking for 30-45 mins every day, practicing some light yoga like child pose, cobra pose etc. Increase emphasis is given to breathing exercises or what is popularly known as Pranayam. Pranayam claims to increase oxygen content within your body thereby cleansing, detoxifying and strengthening from within to perform all functions properly. It also recommended that you expose yourself to the morning sun everyday for Vitamin D. Don’t go out in peak noon hours, that sun isn’t good for you.

While we recognize that PCOS is very difficult to deal with, we would like you to know that its not impossible. Some basic lifestyle changes, some good herbs and some food habits can help you counter the syndrome and manage each symptom individually.

Ayurveda suggests certain food items that you should avoid and certain food items that will benefit your body.
Include lots of green leafy vegetables and avoid starchy vegetables like potatoes but feel free to include sweet potatoes and yams.
You should happily indulge in Ghee as it is a form of healthy fats but avoid any other full-fat dairy products or even full-fat milk.
Include lots of nuts and seeds like almonds, flax seeds, walnuts, sunflower seeds etc.
Avoid soy products like soy milk and tofu.

If you love your non-veg then feel free to include as much fish as you’d like but hold back on the meats. Its not a complete no no but don’t have it too often.
