Piles
In Ayurveda piles are known as “Arsh” and it causes pain like pricking needle in the anus. In piles veins (blood Vessels) around the anus or lower rectum gets inflamed and swollen. Anus is the opening which passes out faeces (stool). If there is too much strain in the anal canal these veins (blood vessels) swell up. These may protrude out also if strain is too much.
As per Ayurveda aggravated pitta dosha causes digestive problems which results in
impairment of jatharagni (digestive fire) and accumulation of ama (toxins) in digestive tract. These toxins lead to disturbance and flatulence which further leads to aggravation of vata dosha.
Piles can be-
- Non-bleeding Piles (Dry)
- Bleeding Piles (Raktarsh)
According to location Piles can be-
Internal Piles:
These are generally painless. These are found inside the anus but may come out of anus when passing out stool and may or may not go back depending on their severity
External Piles:
These occur in the lower part of anal canal. These cause lots of pain. There can also be condition with both internal and external piles occurring together.
FISSURE
Anal fissure is a small tear in the inner membrane of anus. It may occur when someone passes hard or large stools. Anal fissures cause pain and bleeding whenever stool is passed out. It may also cause spasm in the ring of muscle at the end of the anus.
Symptoms of Fissures:
- Pain during & after stool passage
- Blood on the stool or toilet paper after stool passage
- A visible crack in the skin around the anus
- A small lump or skin tag on the skin near the anal fissure
FISTULA
Anal fistula is a small tunnel that runs from inside the anus to somewhere in the skin around it. It is usually result of an infection near
the anus causing a collection of pus (abscess) in the nearby tissue. When the pus drains away, it can leave a small channel behind which is called Fistula.
In Ayurveda it is called as Bhagandar
Symptoms of Anal Fistula:
- Skin irritation
- Discomfort
- Pain
- Redness
- Swelling
- Bleeding may also be there
