Katibasti is a special type of low back therapy or lumbar therapy. The word Kati stands for low back or waist and Basti, for containing or retaining something inside. Katibasthi is an Ayurvedic lumbo-sacral rejuvenation therapy using hot oil or herbal decoctions. Medicated oil or herbs for decoction are selected depending on the bodily constitution and the state of the humors (Doshas) of the person. This oil is poured in a ring of dough kept on the lumbosacral area of the spine of the patient while he/ she is lying face down. The treatment lasts for about 30 minutes & the oil is changed when it gets cooled. After that the affected area is gently massaged. This Katibasti is beneficial as it-
